1. Graduate Study Categories

Applicants for graduate study are assigned to one of the following categories based on their goals and ability to meet admission requirements.

  • Degree Program Admission – This status will be granted to students who are seeking a master’s or doctoral degree who have met the program's requirements. Students seeking degree program admission must submit all required application materials.
  • Provisional Status This status can be granted to students who are seeking a graduate degree who may have deficiencies but have been given admission based on various conditions set by the Program Coordinator. Students must submit all applications documents for provisional admission to the program.
  • Non-Degree Status  Students who do not seek a master’s degree and who wish to take courses may gain non-degree admission status. Please note that some departments do not allow students to take courses who have not been admitted to the degree seeking program. It is also important to note that students in non-degree seeking status are not guaranteed admission to the degree program. Students who wish to seek degree seeking status must apply as such. Please contact the Office of Graduate Services directly for help in determining courses which are available to visiting students. Students interested in this status need only submit an online application and official transcripts.
